Our cultural foodie moment means that there are heaps of food-related news stories, info pieces and commentaries that appear on a daily basis. Here are my favourites of the week.
I watched the first episode of Top Chef Masters this week and like with Top Chef, am totally hooked on this fluff. Curtis Stone may or may not have a hand in this. But really, Ruth Reichl is a great new addition to the Critics’ Table, and I like that it follows the TC format of a chef booted every episode.
As a monthly subscriber, I’m pretty excited about the changes that are coming to Bon Appetit in May. Here’s a sneak peek from the new editor-in-chief.
Are you a fan of Molly Wizenberg and her blog Orangette? If you are, then you’ll be happy to hear she just got another book deal.
Coffee, alcohol, sex, the internet. Why does everything fun end up being classified as addictive, including now food?
A reminder of just how much un-food makes up the typical Western diet. It’s never too late to become label savvy.
More Gwyneth snark: Don’t buy me this for my birthday either. And I’m not the only one who thinks she’s ridiculous right now. However, I won’t get violent like @RuthBourdain, who tweeted this week:
I just got Gwyneth Paltrow’s new cookbook, and I have to say it’s very illuminating. That’s because I set it on fire.
